About Me
From as far back as I can remember, I had a fascination with everything mechanical. I wanted to know how everything I interacted with worked and functioned. Everything from building boats to fixing cars to tinkering with electronics, I was entranced.
In high school, I was an apprentice at Lowell's Boat Shop in Amesbury, Massachusetts. It is a National Historic Landmark and is the oldest running boat shop in America, being built in 1793. For four years, I learned the ins and outs of wooden boat building as well as developing great knowledge in woodworking, engineering, teamwork, and leadership.
I then went on to attend Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am currently studying engineering. Wake Forest's Engineering Program takes a nuanced approach to engineering:
"Our mission is to educate the whole engineer. The world today is a complex place, and the needs of society are ever-changing. A new generation of engineers is needed to deliver sustainable solutions to humanity’s most pressing challenges. Wake Engineering is committed to producing fearless problem solvers who are prepared to tackle these challenges. Our engineers will bring their broad perspective, entrepreneurial mindset, unyielding agility, and virtuous character to the task. We invite you to learn more about who we are and our unique approach to educating the engineers of tomorrow." - WFU Department of Engineering
So far, I have completed three internships while enrolled as a student. In the summer of 2022, I lived in a small wooden cabin in Maine with no heat or electricity. I interned at Hinckley Yachts as a Quality Engineer Intern. I got an incredible insight into the industry and gained valuable experience working on complicated large-scale projects. I also worked on the weekends as a Dock Manager for Hinckley.
In the summer of 2023, I interned as a Virtual Design & Construction Intern at a construction management firm in Beverly, Massachusetts. I worked alongside industry-leading innovators and spent the majority of my time at Autodesk's Technology Center in Boston. I was trained on and had access to incredible new technologies, software, and machinery. This technology center specializes in additive manufacturing, which opened my eyes to such important and emerging fields.
In the summer of 2024, I interned as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Singer Vehicle Design in Los Angeles, California. I gained invaluable knowledge and insight into the automotive manufacturing industry, enhancing my passion and desire to learn more.
